Actions speak louder!

I am honored to lead the Men's Ministry of Bay Area Fellowship because when I ask for the men to step up, they do in a big way.  Edna Degaish is a widow who lives in Flour Bluff and she lost her husband a few months ago.  She could no longer keep up with the grass and trees around her home and needed help.

I sent an email out to the Men of BAF and asked who could help out.  Within minutes I had 5 guys step up and say they would come out on a Wednesday night and work for 2 hours.  By the end of the day I had 10 guys bringing mowers, trimmers and chain saws to get the job done.  We made an incredible amount of progress but I had to ask if anyone would come back on Saturday morning to finish.  Most said yes and we even had a few new people show up on Saturday.  I also have to say thanks to Jennifer Welp and her two boys who came by to check on Rick and decided to stay and help.

Edna and her daughter were very thankful but I have to say I got way more out of watching God move than they did watching us work.  If you are not serving in some capacity then you are not just cheating the church but you are cheating yourself.  I promise you will always get more out of serving than you put into it.  Go ahead and try to out serve God and see if you can do it.  Here are some pictures of the MoB (Men of BAF) Bluff Project.

Singles Hit the Beach

Our Singles Home Team Ministry hit the beach this Labor Day weekend to enjoy fellowship, the weather, and God's awesome creation. The event was planned and pulled off by dedicated leaders and volunteers. The Singles Home Team Ministry is growing in leaps and bounds and making impacts in the lives of those who attend. We look forward to some great things happening in this growing ministry at Bay Area Fellowship. Thanks to all that made this happen. Check out pictures from the event in the left column! Pastor Dave

Calling All Leaders

As you all know we have been in a series called "Calling All Leaders." So what does that mean for Hometeam Leaders? With the vision from God that Bil has been talking about to reach 5,000 more people in the next six months it means that we need your help raising up new Hometeam Leaders.

All of us are here because we love BAF and how much of a family it has always felt like, that could change if we don't continue to connect the thousands of new people who come to BAF into a Hometeam. We have seen over and over again that the people who get connected into a Hometeam are likely to stay and those that don't generally slip quietly away.

So knowing we need you guys to help us raise up new leaders let me ask you a couple of key questions:

1) How many people are you bringing to the HT Leader training this Sunday in the Element Room at 2:30? We are asking you to bring potential leaders whether they're ready or not, and they're far more likely to come if you come with them. Make those calls and tell your people you want them to come with you.

2) Are you letting people in your group share in the leadership responsibilities so they can learn to lead prior to be asked? This is the key to raising up new leaders.

3) Are you familiar with the phrase that makes the BAF Hometeams the ministry it is? We call it the "multiplication DNA" and it means that we are creating a ministry that by it's very DNA is created to multiply. Why do our Hometeams need to multiply? Because HT's are organisms not organizations. Organisms are alive so they grow, they need to be fed, they need light, and they need to be pruned. Like any living organism, if these things don't happen the organism dies.

Join us in this amazing vision and let's fill the Element Room to capacity with people who are willing to join this vision. "CALLING ALL LEADERS,"  we need you guys to join us by fulfilling your part of the leadership role by bringing your people.

We love you all and the impact being made through your commitment to opening your homes to people who desperately need community, is immeasurable. From myself, Pastor Dave and the Hometeams Coordinators let me say thank you for all your doing and we'll see you on Sunday.

Discovering Spiritual Maturity Class

There will be a Discovering Spiritual Maturity Class in the Element on Sunday August 12th after the 1:00 o'clock service. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who is looking to find key steps in experiencing personal spiritual growth and maturity. Whether you have been a Christian for years or have just accepted Christ into your life, this is a no-nonsense approach to a closer walk with God. If you are in a Home Team, encourage the other members to come as a group. If you have attended before, this is a great chance to reflect on where you are and how far you have come. We look forward to seeing you there.
In Christ,
Pastor Dave

Vision for Tomorrow

Pastor John and I will be conducting Home Team Leader training in August on Sunday the 19th and Sunday the 26th at 2:30 in the Element. We are asking all current leaders and anyone who has any idea at all that they might want to become a leader to attend one of these sessions. We have a lot of dedicated leaders out there who could probably be teaching the class, so you may wonder why we are asking everyone to attend. For those who have been at Bay Area Fellowship for a while, you have seen, as we have, a pretty remarkable transformation in the last few months. The church is a lot like our lives. God works to grow us and improve us in one area, and then when we have, He moves on and says, "Now, let's take a look at this over here, and consider what needs to be done". Our walk individually and our path as a church must be ever growing and ever improving to become all that God has planned for us. What was a vision yesterday is a reality today. What worked yesterday doesn't necessarily work with what is to come. The incredible journey that Pastor Bil has led Bay Area on to this point is only the beginning. The Home Teams ministry will continue to be a vital part of this journey in helping to change lives and build community in this ever growing body of Christ.
Please come and join us to share in this vision and be a part of all that God has planned.
(For those who are not currently leaders, but would like to attend, please notify me by email at davec@bayareafellowship.org )
We are working on having childcare available, but will need to have a count before the end of this week on those attending, so please let us know as soon as possilble.
